This unit covers the different requirements, characteristics and practices for special groups of learners. The special groups include children, individual learners, business English learners, monolingual classes and multilingual classes. All the different special groups and the individual learners have their own particular needs, and the teacher has to adjust the teaching process accordingly. The teacher may also have some preferences on which group to teach, and this may inform the acceptance of the teaching job (i.e., choosing to teach employees of certain companies; or preferring to deal with teaching monolingual groups). Although I am familiar with much of the material in this chapter, I found it very useful, when presented as a whole- since I was not aware I had preferences (and i now do, which is good).
