Unit 11 discusses the two receptive skills which are equally important in studying the English language. This unit also shows the reasons of the problem which learners meet as they practice the two skills. Personally, this unit taught me to be more sensitive of the listening and reading activities I should give to my students. More often than not, I choose topics basing on my interest as I expect my students will also be interested. Consequently, from now on I will make sure to know my students well.Course books will typically help to keep the class on target and maintain the syllabus because most parents and students have come to expect that that is what course books do. Though course books serve as an excellent anchor to keep the pace of the course, knowing how to and implementing replacements and/or supplemental materials to the course book will help to keep the class engage and continue to build the rapport with the students. Remember that it is this rapport that is paramount to student success.
