This was a lengthy chapter that covered some interesting material. I was very excited to see the explanation on the phonemic alphabet. It was one that I have seen a lot but was never formally taught it in school. I will use the phonemic symbol sheet as a reference point in the future and will slowly study it so that I may use it when the need arises. It is helpful, but it feels like learning another language. Luckily I can apply various techniques I've learned through this course to better understand it!As English language teachers we must be prepared to teach diverse groups of students within our classrooms. This means students of various language levels, different cultures, background experiences, interests, strengths and so on. By being aware of the various techniques we can use to accommodate the diversity within our classroom, we better serve our students. We must take the time to learn about our students and put in the effort to evaluate their needs to then use these needs to form our instruction.
