This unit outlines several materials that can be used in the classroom. It gives the difference between authentic materials, created materials, and the coursebooks that teachers may use or consult throughout their careers. There are advantages and drawbacks to each of these kinds of materials which teachers should be made aware of. While we may have to or want to use coursebooks in our lessons, it's a good idea to approach these books critically and not rely on them wholesale. It is best to tailor our materials to the needs of our students.This was a very interesting unit. I was able to see the difference of what not to do when teaching and what to do. Something that is very important is the attitude of the teacher. If I come with a closed and angry attitude, the students will feel intimidated and will not want to participate. Another simple, but important thing I noted was how the teacher smiled a lot in the second video and was eager to connect with the students. Simple things like learning names and asking everyone in the class to participate can go a long way in a lesson.
