I enjoyed reading and learning about the different purposes of testing and assessment used for EFL learners. Other new information to me was the range of tests that are provided for these learners to be assessed with. Whenever I have used assessment in my previous teaching experience, I have always been open with the students and discussed their results and next steps to improve individually. I have found that this creates more 'buy in' from the student and they take more personal responsibility for their learning. Consequently they also take more pride in their improved results. I also see the other side where for EFL learners, the assessments could be very challenging and in some way discouraging. So I think it is important to keep a balance and make sure the students can approach you for help in specific areas.
