Summary
The key objective of this unit was to understand and learn the difference between a good lesson(lesson 2) and a bad lesson(lesson 1). I did this by noticing the teachers attitude, their preparation and how they built a rapport with the students. In lesson 1 it was very clear that the teacher was ill-prepared, spoke to fast, wasn’t enthusiastic, didn’t plan for the language problems that may occur such as the difference between can and could and at one point sat down to read a book! These were just a few issues i saw in L1 and by the end the students looked very confused.
In contrast the teacher in lesson 2 was very prepared, utilising flash cards, extra equipment, describing animals using mimes and gestures and building a rapport with the students by learning their names and being enthusiastic.
