This unit introduces the various teaching methods in the TEFL practice. Understanding these methodologies helps in applying the right approach to the targeted age group and language level of students. In particular, the ESA method is emphasised. This method is considered the most effective and most logical of all the methods for new teachers to apply and learn in the classroom. I find that this method is flexible, yet it gives a structured guideline in lesson planning. The flexibility of the ESA method can be explored through 3 types of lesson plans, with each approach catering to the learning needs of the students.
The unit concluded with correction techniques that will encourage and build up student's confidence in learning, rather than putting them down when an error or mistake is made in the learning process.
