This unit was challenging for me to complete, as I had never thought about the grammatical rules that are involved in conditional and reported language. It was difficult to complete questions 17-20, as it seemed as though there were several options that could work in a normal conversational setting, but I was unsure whether they were technically correct. One aspect of teaching English that is very interesting is needing to look at my first language from the perspective of someone who did not grow up picking up all of the subtle rules and conventions of the languageIn this unit I have learned that the auxiliary verb does play an important part in our sentence structure. I have learned the difference between active and passive voice and I see now the importance of using a comma in a simple sentence. I have never before thought of how adding or removing a comma could change a sentence. I do feel that it would be very important to know your students very well before you introduce them to phrasal verbs and passive voice, to make sure they ( the student) are on the correct level so that by teaching this they don't get confused.
