This unit covered the use of testing and evaluation in the classroom. This lesson was primarily an overview of the different kinds of tests that English learners take and their different aims. The lesson mentioned four internal exams, them being diagnostic, progress, achievement, and practice tests. Often, a placement test would be taken before the course, and an external test after the course. This lesson assumes that there will be pre-made test materials, so there is virtually no time spent on what constitutes a good test, but simply discusses the different categories of tests.This unit provided an overview of the various methods and styles of teaching. The unit drew attention the why ESA is the preferred method of teaching for this course, as well as the reasons why it is beneficial for succdssful learning; that being the fact that ESA incorporates a balanced approach of using the best parts of known methodologies and unifying them into one method. I have learned the fundamental building blocks of creating a lesson plan. I found the many ideas and suggestions for activities very useful in generating ideas for how I would start to draft my own lessons.
