While writing and speaking are considered productive skills (as opposed to listening and reading, the receptive language skills), both require different teaching methodologies and pose different difficulties. Speaking is the means through which a good classroom will run and is most often the focus of students trying to learn the language. Speaking commands a certain level of fluency, which can only be acquired through regular practice. In addition, a speaker will often need to think on the spot and be ready to respond to some unpredictable circumstances.The unit looks into a basis of how to run a class and a overall lesson. It looks into the particulars of how to appropriately engage the student, work with them, and properly correct them as well. It is particularly interesting to look into the ideals of proper correction and making sure to not over correct or under correct any student, as well as not cause any disinterest in the lesson. I thoroughly enjoyed and found the examples of each section of the \"proper\" lesson (Engage, Study, Activate) very helpful and look forward to using them in the classroom.
