This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
At some point in the teaching career, teachers will face a group of new students. The class can fall into 2 categories: 1 New group and 2 Existing group. In the new group, students don't know each other and the teacher should establish relationships with the new group, whereas in the existing group, the students are likely to know each other and are familiar with EFL teaching.
In the first lesson, the teacher at a new position should not use a course book, but should establish rapport with the student, find out about the students, find out students' needs and find out the English level of each member of the class.
It is recommended not to use the native language of the students as students are encouraged to use English to communicate.
Teachers could use plenty of pair work, role-play to motivate reluctant students.
