Unit 13 discusses the teaching of pronunciation and phonology, to include (1) intonation, i.e., the variation in volume and pitch in a sentence conveying much of the message in a sentence, (2) stress which is concerned placing the emphasis on specific words within the sentence, (3) techniques for teaching stress, (4) introduction to the phonetic alphabet, (5) articulation involving the speech organs, and (6) techniques for the teaching of pronunciation of individual sounds. Regarding the above test questions 15 through 20 for this unit 13, I do not find them appropriate because none of them resemble a form of communication in English that can be readily understood with any meaning. Therefore, I respectfully request that questions 15 – 20 not be graded and averaged into my test score for unit 13. Thank you.
