This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit tackled conditional sentences and reported speech. For the former, there is the potential for many fun games and opportunities for students’ creativity and imagination to shine through. One thing I learned was the five classifications of conditionals: zero, first, second, third and mixed. With so many types of conditionals, there is room for mistakes and errors. However, if I can recognize the most typical mistakes in my students’ work then I will know how to correct them. The second half of the unit talked about reported or indirect speech. Although it sounds simple enough in theory, my students could run into many problems because of all of the tense changes and backshifting. As always, the unit also provided a list of games and activities that will help me teach these concepts to my students.
