Unit 1 discusses the attributes of good teachers and learners, and things which may affect learners' attitudes such as age, life experience, reasons for learning, and cultural expectations. It also discusses language levels and things which may motivate learners to study English. I have learned the levels of English language ability, and that it is important to ensure activities are suitable for the level of the students you are teaching. Also, it has been a good experience to reflect upon what qualities make a good teacher, and that teaching should be learner-focused and not teacher-focused. As a teacher, I will be more aware of the qualities I am displaying and the roles I take within the classroom, as well as taking more care to spot qualities in my students and responding to them so as to support their learning.
