In this unit I found a very useful presentation of theories ,methods and techniques to teach English as a second language.For example,I learned that it is helpful to elicit English vocabulary of what students have already learned ,if teacher will be aware of some student's native language vocabulary.
To be aware of student's traditions and culture will help to build positive relationship as well.
This will help to increase motivation to learn English.Having experience in teaching reading skill to students in Indonesia, preparing them for National Examination and Public Higher Education Institutions Enrollment Test , reading is quite difficult for students to comprehend since for both tests speed and accuracy is needed due to limited time given. However, upon learning this unit, I realised that I can improve my teaching in reading skill much better, and hopefully I can implement it soon to students.
