There exist certain similarities between past tenses and present tenses in terms of the system and structure but differ in the sense that past tenses obviously relate to past time periods. We come to understand that all continuous forms feature some form of the verb 'to be' plus 'ing' form of the verb. That if the verb 'to be' is in the present, it will be the present continuous and if it is in the past, it will be past continuous .
