This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit is all about pronunciation, which I have found to be the most useful unit so far, mostly because it is the topic with which I am least familiar. I think it is extremely useful to understand normal intonation, and therefore, to realize what a challenge it can be for English language learners. I like the idea of having students read using different intonations to help them to understand the significance of each possibility. I think that stress will be challenging to teach because I think it is not necessarily easy for native speakers to distinguish. I particularly liked the part of the unit that explained how phonology morphs depending on the speaker. I also believe that the knowledge I gained about articulation and how sounds are made within our mouths will be valuable in helping students with pronunciation.
