There are some modal verbs in English used to denote obligation, necessary, possibility, ability, request, permission, prohibition, advice. Usually modal verbs don't agree in number and person and followed by the base form of the verb.
Some modal verbs have similar meaning but degree of certainty can be different, or some modals can express more polite requests. Modal verbs can be used in different tenses, but not all of them, some of them need to be changed (can for future is changed into will be able, should needs perfect infinitive to denote the past tense.
As for relative clauses, they require certain pronoun to connect the ideas. The pronoun should be chosen according to the conveyed idea (that, which, who, where, etc.)
The phrasal verbs are the verbs that change their meaning and are followed by a preposition.
