Unit 17 covers teaching aids and equipment. Some examples of teaching aids/equipment are; White/blackboard, Interactive whiteboard (IWB), Overhead projector (OHP), visual aids, worksheets and work cards, cassette recorder, CD player, DVD player, Video Camera, computer, etc. Some rules for effective usage of a board are; always start with a clean board, write legibly and neatly, keep the board clear and easy to read, use different colors or underline or circle different text to add emphasis, etc. When using IWB's, always have a backup plan, always be trained on how to use it, always have a lesson plan, etc. Some advantages for using a OHP are; teachers can prepare slides in advance, teachers don't have to turn their backs as often, sheets can be placed one on top of another, OHT sheets can be stored for future use, etc.
