When it comes to the future tense, normally we are tough the simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. However, not much is said about how the present tense is used to refer about future situations. The auxiliary verb going to is used in talking about intentions. The present continuous tense is used in talking about arrangements. That is, an arrangement is is a plan for the future that you have already thought about and discussed with someone else. For example, I'm meeting my mother at the airport tomorrow. The present simple tense is usually used to refer to future events that are scheduled and outside of our control. For example, Hurry up! The train departs in 10 minutes.
