In this course I learned that it is important to include the entire class in all activities, and not allow any student to be left out either by the teacher's neglect or by another student's dominance. Eye contact, voice, and gestures are all very effective tools in communicating to the class and in engaging all students equally. Some students need more attention than others, but all should be included.
Class organization and seating are both important when considering the activities of the day, the rapport of the class, and in keeping things interesting for the students.
There are times when discipline will be necessary. Behavioral problems can be reduced, but not always prevented. When problems arise, action must be taken immediately, and threats should be backed by the school's disciplinary code, and enacted.
