This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Eye contact, gesture and voice - Age and English level are critical. For example I have pre 1 classes where gestures are critical and adult classes where eye contact is essential.
Grouping students & classroom arrangement - good points but often determined by the school and outside of the teachers control. Can be very frustrating.
Giving individual attention - nice in theory but when you have classes of 40-50 plus students, it is not practical.
Teacher talking time - generally teachers talk to much and students don't talk enough. Most students want and need more talking time. A ratio of 80/20 is normally good for student/teacher talking time.
Maintaining Discipline - The section I found to be most useful. I've had at least one class ruined to do students running amok. Effective discipline would have saved that class.
