This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Before this unit, I did not pay much attention to the difference between placement tests, diagnostic, and progress tests. We had them in school, of course, but I never gave much thought to when they would be applicable. I also had no idea about the Cambridge tests or the TOEIC. It's a very popular test here in Japan, but I have no idea of its contents. I also learned more about what kind of tests to use to evaluate students and when it's appropriate to use them. To know what placement tests are and when it's appropriate to use them, and when to give progress tests and what exactly they test for. I will now pay more attention to the tests given in my classes, because before, I assumed that grades mattered on these tests. I now know that it's not the grade they're testing, but to check for improvement from previous tests.
