This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this chapter we covered the different methods of teaching from the more traditional methods of grammar/translation, audio/lingualism, PPP, and tasked based learning to more contemporary methods such as community language learning, the silent method, suggestopedia and the Lexical approach. I also learned the different situations in which certain methods may be more effective depending on the needs of the student or class and how multiple methods must be combined to increase the chances of success and accessibility to student. I also learned about the Engage, Study and Activate method to structuring a class or lesson in its many different forms and how each section should be structured in order to build upon the last. Lastly the chapter covered correction techniques and when it would be appropriate to correct a student.
