This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit two important grammar subjects, conditionals and reported speech are explained. The structure and usages of the five different forms of conditional sentences are described.
Teachers need to be aware of the typical mistakes students make when working with conditionals. Methods to teach conditionals effectively in the classroom are described. The differences between direct and reported speech are identified. A table with the appropriate tense changes for reported speech is illustrated for use when changing direct speech to reported speech. Since there are many changes that occur with reported speech in terms of verb tenses, patterns, pronouns, questions, and time expressions, it becomes necessary for students to go slowly and thoroughly with this concept. Useful ideas for teaching reported speech are included.
