This unit outlines aspects of grammar such as modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice constructions. The unit examines modal auxiliary verbs and passive voice in details, as well as a brief overview of phrasal verbs and relative clauses. Some basic rules for modal auxiliary verbs are: obligation, possibility/probability, permission/prohibition, ability, and advice. There are two voices used in English: the active and the passive voices. Phrasal verbs or multi-word verbs consist of a verb plus one or two particles. There are three types of phrasal verbs, namely: intransitive, transitive separable, and transitive inseparable.
This unit has enlightened me on the easiest way to teach phrasal verbs by choosing a particular subject. The basic rules of modal auxiliary verbs will guide me to teach my students effectively.
