In this unit we look at all the structures in more detail. The future is one of the most complex areas of the English language. So many different tenses and ideas can be used with future meanings.
The seven most common are as follows:
1. The future simple
I'll get my coat.
Prediction (with present evidence).
2. The future continuous
I'll be waiting for you.
Action in progress at a specific future time.
3. The future perfect
I'll have worked here for 2 years.
An action completed before a time in the future.
4. The future perfect continuous
I'll have been working for 7 years.
How long something will have been happening by a future time.
5. Be going + infinitive
I'm going to work next week.
6. The present simple
We start filming tomorrow.
7. The present continuous
I'm leaving you.
