This unit is spot on with its claim that writing is very often the least explored skill in the TEFL world. Indeed, I have not yet, in the years of my classroom teaching, delivered lessons that are exclusively centered on writing. Students often either underestimate or shelve the importance of writing until their other communication needs are met.
This unit has enhanced my knowledge on how to better guide and drive my students’ productive skills, by highlighting the various possible causes that stand behind the students’ reluctance to verbally communicate and/or their inability to write, and prescribing, thereby, the various techniques that can be employed to address these inadequacies. The seating arrangement and the lesson’s relevance and interest being two prominent examples of these remedial approaches.
