As presented by this unit, lesson planning appears to be a rather flexible and open ended part of the teacher's job. Unless otherwise instructed by the school, the teacher appears to be quite free to structure his or her lesson according to what would be most convenient for achieving the learning objectives for the class. This is not to say that a teacher can structure lessons in any manner; the lessons do need to relate to each other and build upon each other in order to achieve the broader goal of the course, the development of English language skill. In so far as lesson plans flow in a logical manner, building upon each other, and conforming to the standards that may or may not be set by the school that the teacher works in; the teacher has a fairly large degree of latitude in regards to this aspect of the teaching job.
