The first lesson was painful to watch because the students were clearly confused and frustrated that they weren't able to understand what was happening or give correct answers. The teacher assumed much in this first lesson, did not offer assistance, spoke too fast, was disinterested, and was not friendly. In the second lesson the atmosphere of the classroom changed dramatically. Because the teacher's attitude was friendly the students felt much more comfortable in the classroom. The teacher spoke clearly and explained his instructions well so that the class was able to follow a long and respond verbally during the lesson. Even though the structure of the lessons were similar, the lack of instruction and engagement during the first lesson caused the students to be discouraged, confused and unable to learn English correctly.
