Unit 6 covered the four different tense and three forms used to discuss the past. The four tenses are past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. The three forms each of these tenses can take are the affirmative, the negative and the question form. This unit explained that in our studies of the three times and their corresponding tenses we will begin to notice patterns in the structures of how they are formed. For example, the continuous tenses will always use the auxiliary verb to be plus another verb ending in \"ing.\" One more challenging point covered in this unit concerned the past simple. It was explained that there is no pattern nor are there rules to assist students in learning how to form irregular verb forms in the past and students will have to memorize those verbs apart from the rest.
