Students will be more willing to communicate if the teacher succeeds in creating the need and desire to do so. A teacher will encourage the students to speak by creating a relaxed and non-threatening atmosphere. The students must be aware of the purpose of the communication, what they want to say and also what they want to listen to. They must take an interest in the conversation. Students can be encouraged to speak by making use of controlled and creative class activities. When giving feedback it is important to focus on the positive things, what can the students do. Engaging the students in writing activities has its own challenges since it involves the correct use of vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and grammar rules. Students will develop their writing skills by being presented with a variety of interesting activities.
