In this unit I learned about the basic roles that I will need to play in order to effectively engage with my students during class time. I also learned about the varying factors that affect a learner during their language learning process. As a result, I feel that the most important thing that was reinforced during this unit was the idea that it should all be centered on the students and how they interact with the language they wish to learn. So while lecturing may be one important aspect of a particular lesson it should be kept to a minimum. Instead, I should play more of a guiding role through the language acquisition process in order to keep the students motivated and engaged. If the students feel encouraged and they are enjoying the process then they will be more likely to gain all the qualities of a successful learner.
