The unit talks about the course books and materials needed for effective lesson.Such are put into two groups-authentic and created materials.Authentic materials include magazines,newspapers,videos, movies,etc.Created materials include crossword,role play cards, flashcards, gap fill activities,etc.
The unit also describes what course book are, which includes student's book, workbook,teacher's book,etc. A course book has its own pros and cons. Among some of pros are;its attractive and appealing, it provides security for students and teachers,etc.Some of the cons which readily comes to mind include;it does not always fit the specific needs and interest of all the class members, it is almost always compromise,etc.
Finally, i learnt about four different options for course book usage-ORSA, i.e Omit,Replace, Supplement and Adapt.
