In this unit, evaluating and testing is discussed, which is a vital component of the classroom because it allows the teacher to help gage where the students are at each point during the course. While tests can make students nervous and uncomfortable at times, it is an important factor in measuring student ability, and promoting students to study and best try to retain the information. Within different types of tests, students can be placed within certain classes, have their progress checked throughout, practice for standardized testing, and even gain certifications in order to verify their language ability for future jobs, etc. While paper tests are a great way to see what students can do, I feel it is as equally important to have a speaking portion of the test so the teacher can see how much the student can do on their own.
