Unit 4 gives a great overview of the varying types of materials and resources we can use during our lessons to support our lessons. There are two types of materials; authentic and non-authentic. Authentic materials are resources such as magazines, billboards, TV commercials, songs, that were not developed for use in classrooms. Non-authentic materials are materials that were developed for the purpose of use within a classroom, such as worksheets and text books. There are benefits to both types of materials. A mixture of both will provide well-rounded lessons. The materials we plan on using are a part of our lesson planning. When planning lessons, it's important to think through each step of your lesson. A plan should be written well enough that someone else coming into your classroom could adequately teach the planned lesson.
