Unit 5 explains the varied areas a teacher needs to look at and ways that will help the class learn the English language effectively. Eye contact, gesture and the voice helps establish a good rapport with the students, while the ways a teacher groups students can be appropriate or not for certain activities.The classroom arrangement is important and also depends on the activity. Teacher Talk Time is needed as a way to provide students with exposure to the language being learned and as an example of the correct use of the language. Student talk time is the opportunity they have to speak and actively participate in the class. This unit also helped me to see how to make instructions effective by just keeping it simple, using visual clues, being consistent, and asking students to explain them back to me to establish understanding.
