This unit covers the topic of teaching themes. Case studies provide a wide range of learning opportunities for students and authentic materials can be easily found. There is generally a lot of information presented in case studies so it could take longer for teachers to explain the activity and pre-teach potentially difficult vocabulary. Frameworking can be used to teach business English, especially when teaching the language of change, to visualise the process. Problem-based learning is also a teaching method, and it allows students to decide for themselves which problems are to be addressed and learn the language through application. The Speech Act theory is also introduced in the unit and different types of utterances are explained. A few sample lesson plans are presented tp show how to put these teaching themes to practice.
