This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 addressed the teaching of productive skills, writing and speaking. These skills are the counterparts to the receptive reading and listening skills. In this unit the idea that no language skill is more important than the other was reinforced. I agree with this idea because for students to become true communicators in the English language they will need to be able to be receptive and productive. I've learned some approaches that I will be implementing moving forward. Generating interest in my upper elementary school students is quite difficult since I don't have any say in the curriculum. That being said I will aim to make the classroom as engaging as I can for students to feel comfortable in learning English and practicing the language. Adding in a variety of activities I think will be paramount for my continued success.
