This unit is about teaching the productive skills of speaking and writing. It explains that while writing skills are often neglected writing is in many ways a more difficult practice requiring greater accuracy. In order for productive lessons to be succesful the teacher must create a desire or need for the students to communicate.Accuracy and fluency activities are defined and differentiated. Accuracy activities are centred on allowing the students to create and experiment and less on accuracy. Fluency activities are more focused on producing correct language. Both are equally important. The unit then goes on to teach efective ways to apply these methods in the classroom in relation to speaking and writing, providing examples. I believe I now how effective knowledge and applications to teach writing and teaching in the classroom.
