This unit encompassed the methods of teaching new language. It focused on 3 important areas: vocabulary, grammar and functions. There were three things that I learned from this unit. First, I found the image/example of the tree trunk to be very helpful. The description of how grammar is the tree trunk, the branches are the vocabulary while the functions are the leaves gave a definite argument for the importance of all three components in learning a new language. I appreciate how each unit not only gives basic information but also shows examples or visuals to further develop our knowledge base. Secondly, I found the suggested ESA techniques for each section beneficial in creating lesson plan ideas. Lastly, the task sheet questions regarding lessons on grammar, vocabulary and function assisted me to re-examine the unit in entirety.
