It is clear why this is the last grammar based unit as it is seems to be the hardest to explain and grasp. Modals, phrasal verbs, and the passive voice seem rather intimidating to teach, but not impossible. I was able to understand these concepts primarily because I have heard these phrases so many times that I know what sounds natural and what does not. However, students will obviously not have the same context as I, so therefor will not have the same ear for phrasing. I appreciated the idea of teaching these concepts more as vocabulary then as theory because clearly a lot of it is about having a sense of what sounds correct and what doesn't, but I also believe that with time and practice (and a lot of thoughtful explanation) the many uses and capacities of the aforementioned concepts are teachable, understandable, and useful.
