This unit was about receptive and productive skills. Receptive skills include reading and listening. Productive skills include speaking and writing. I never thought about the difference between accuracy and fluency before this lesson. I can see the benefits for understanding the difference and how to use that understanding to create better lessons, because accuracy is best taught during the study phase. Where fluency is best left for the activate stage. The straight arrow and patchwork lessons taught in the video were surprisingly helpful. Because the lesson plan was presented in an easy to follow overview of what the teacher would teach for each phase. Also, the idea of pre-teaching was useful. I didn't think about doing a mini lesson during my lesson to teach some tricky vocabulary or grammatical points. That is super helpful.
