This unit has taught me how essential it is to break down different parts of speech in order to teach better. By doing this, it seems lessons can be more structured and easily laid out for students. It gave me an idea on where to start in teaching the English language to someone who is not used to listening, reading or speaking this language.
Having to speak the English language on a daily basis, you tend to forget the rules and the technicalities of it. This lesson reminded me of how I was able to learn to construct sentences when I was younger, and from this, I have an idea how my students might feel when they are trying to construct their English sentences. Breaking it down to the different parts of speech, and the rules associated with each one, makes it a little easier for them to understand the sentence structure as a whole.
