In this lesson, I have learned that creating a lesson plan is very vital to effective TEFL teaching. Lesson plans should always be written down, organized, and planned well. It should always include the learner objectives, personal aims, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedures, phases, and timings, interaction, class level, number of students, date/time, teacher?s and observer?s names. It is also very important to implement the straight arrow approach into lesson plans. In this lesson we learnt about the various methods of teaching English. Each has its own advantages and drawbacks. A technique called ESA, which combines the benefits of many of the earlier methodologies was put forward by Jeremy Harmer and this is the basis of the TESOL course. At each stage of the ESA method, teachers can conduct various activities to enhance the learning process.
