This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered teaching Phonology and Pronunciation to students. First, this unit explained the three basic patterns of intonation, rise/fall, fall/rise, and flat. Second, this unit explained the rules that govern both stress and intonation, what syllable to stress, what a stress does to the meaning of a sentence, and what parts of grammar are not usually stressed. Third, this unit explained articulation. There are many different places of articulation, such as, the velar, palatal, dental, and bilabial. There are also many different manners of articulation, such as, the plosive, fricative, and nasal. I have learned that there are many different methods to teach both pronunciation and articulation. I have also learned that there are different times to teach pronunciation and phonology, and that perfection is not always achievable.
