Teaching a new language was the subject covered in the unit seven.
I learned that no matter what the level of a class is, there are four things students need to do with new language: be exposed to it, understand its meaning, how is constructed and be able to practice and produce it.
Vocabulary, grammar and functions should be introduced to the new language in a balanced and manageable way in order to conduct to a truly and effective learning.
Another important thing I learned is how to introduce new language using the ESA methods.In this unit 19, I learned more about teaching special groups. One of the things I highlight was teaching one to one. They have some advantages, such individual attention from the teacher, individual feedback or according to the students? needs. Some disadvantages can be the difficulty to measure progress without other students to compare, can become monotonous or more pressure for the student/teacher to get results. In sum, to teach English we need to check what type of lesson we have to adapt according to the class/student needs.
