Course books, materials and teaching aids must be used with a balanced lesson in mind, targeting the needs and appropriateness of the students you have. All aids should and can be kept in good condition to ensure both clearly communicated information for the students and so these can be used again in the future. Not all materials or aids are essential but course books have particular benefits. These give the teacher information and support. They give the students a sense of structure, progress and are specifically graded to match their current language level.Very often teaching pronunciation is neglected due to a lack of confidence or lack of training of the teachers. In reality, it should be an essential part of a course. Time should always be found to practice pronunciation, stress and intonation. A student needs to be aware that his/her pronunciation can affect the clarity of the communication. If a student is capable of pronouncing correctly or at least capable of identifying certain particularities of the language (the ways words are linked), their listening and communication skills improve as a consequence.
