This unit covered the merits, as well as the disadvantages of using course material and textbooks that are already developed. On one hand, using a text book guarantees that a varied range of grammar, vocabulary and skills will be covered in the course. On the other hand, a textbook is always made for general consumption and so may not be the most beneficial for one's students. I agree that original material that is created by the teacher should be used to supplement the materials provided by the textbook.This unit is devoted to pronunciation and explains it importance during speaking. It is explained how the pattern of intonation chnges in the sentence giving it a differet meaning and sugests what teaching techniques teacher may use to let students understand this. This unit also explains the presence of stress, phonemic alphabetand hat role they play in the speech. From this unit I have learned how to engage students in pronunciation activities and how important it is for them to pronounce words clearly.
