This unit explained different ways and methods of teaching vocabulary. i learned that students usually need to know the meaning of the word, the usage of the word and the spelling and pronunciation of the word in order to learn about any new vocabulary. I also learned that different activities can be used in the engage, study and activate phase. For example, in the study phase fill in the blanks and word searched can be used while in the Activate phase you can use debates and group games.This was a good section for learning how to teach tenses. I was unaware of the structure of the Present tense being divided into 4 categories. It is common English language that seems to have been natural in my speaking but I would not have been able to explain it to a person who does not speak English.
The irregular verbs have highlighted just how difficult English can be to a new learner. The best example was read being spelled the same but pronounced differently depending on the tense.
